Like a Tree

Bible Text: Psalm 1

Before Christmas, we meditated about creation reveals God. He desires to be in a close relationship with us. The Lord wants to walk with us, as He walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden. His heart is that we discover who He is through His revelation: Creation and the Bible. Doing so, it becomes natural to worship God and learn how to follow Jesus.

Things worth living for, they don't just happen by accident. It requires time to develop within us before they become part of ourself. The same can be said of an oak tree. It takes a long time to become majestic. It requires the right conditions.

Psalm 1 invites to search for a "blessed life." He compares such stage to a tree with deep roots. A healthy tree produces an abundance of fruit. This is also God's desire when we delight with His Word (Psalm 1:2). The Bible helps us grow deep roots into God because we get closer to Him and understand who He is.

It does not always come easy. It is something that needs practice, time and patience by our part. We must learn to quiet our hearts and open our ears to hear what the Lord wants to say. I believe, if I may say, this happens when we spend time on the couch with God. It is a time when we disconnect from the world's noises, and we plug into God. Doing so, we discover the real God.

Let me invite you this morning to take time alone with God. Take your Bible, if you don't have one; please, contact me, and I would send you one. Silence the noises around you and open the Word of God in prayer, as you read a small portion. Then, take time to make sure that you allow God to speak into your life and take the time to share your heart with Him.
