Give thanks to the LORD

Read: Psalm 107

Last week, we wrote down various reasons why we are thankful for: our friends, family, jobs, health. Each one of us had a list of motives that we were grateful to our gracious God. It makes such a difference when we realise all the things that the Lord Almighty has done in our life.

This week I would like to invite you to continue thinking about thankfulness. Though, we could look to who we are thankful. Let us look to the loving Heavenly Father and recognise Him as the source of our physical and spiritual blessings. We can approach our Abba and thank Him for what He has done in our lives. He is waiting for us to come to Him.

Today’s reading starts with the following words, “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1). It invites God’s people to give thanks to the Lord God for His redemption from the Babylonian exile. We have so much to be thankful to Him. Out of His love, God has chosen as His people. The Lord has delivered us and blessed us beyond what we can imagine. He is here and waits for us to turn to Him. What are you waiting for?

Today, take time to talk with the Lord. Don’t bring your needs right away. Just talk with our loving heavenly Father. Take time to share how hard it is to keep praying and ask Him to help you know who He is. Give thanks to God for all he does and, then, share your needs.

FEARFUL

" Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles " (Acts 2:43) Read: Acts 2:43 The word awe is defined as “fearful” and usually refers to the fear of the LORD in the Bible. Fear of the Lord doesn’t mean sheer terror. It’s having a healthy respect for God’s power, acknowledging his all-encompassing character and that he holds life and death in his hands. Worship

Text: Psalm 104.24-35 Psalm 104 starts and ends with the words, “Praise the Lord, my soul”. The beginning and the end are a proclamation of praise to the Almighty God. In fact, the whole psalm is a review of the greatness of God in creation and, therefore, a meditation on God’s providence. To consider such things, helps us to draw closer to God and worship Him. If we are sincere with ourselves, our daily situations (children, work, news, stress, etc.) can take our attention away from God. It is not easy to just plug-in and worship the Lord. I find myself missing so much of God’s creation, because my mind wanders off to my daily concerns. My wife calls me to really see the beauty around us, otherwise I would miss it. How easy it is for us to be carried away and not once lift our eyes to the Lord, and worship Him that created the earth.
