Friendship with God

Bible Reading: John 1.14-18

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1.14).

The whole intention for Jesus was to prove God’s love and the desire to overcome the separation between the Father and us. God, who created men, came to be one of them. Jesus wanted to put things right where they were not, because of sin. The Lord probed He wanted to be our friend, and help us to reconcile with his Father. He loves us so much that laid His life to accomplish his goal.

Men would never create the idea that the creator wanted to spend time with the creation. This idea is what makes all the differences. Friendship is developed over time. You may want to spend time with him in a walk, on the couch, having a cup of tea or a coffee. He is always available. Jesus spent time with the people that He met in his daily life. He touched the ill and cure the sick, even shed tears when he walked to his friend’s tomb in Bethany.

Being a friend with God is a lifechanging experience because friendship does not expect more than the gift of friendship. However, Jesus has done all for us. He suffered pain and punishment, and shocking death in the Cross. He did because Jesus knew it was the way to make absolutely free. Free from what? Death, ourselves, darkness, separation from God, among other things.

God is not distance because Jesus revealed the invisible God to us as God became human. Don’t believe what Satan try to plant in your mind. The Lord is a God worthy to know and easy to relate to.

I invite you tonight to take time on the couch with God. Consider what it meant that Jesus being God became human. Take time to thank the Father.
